- Fantastic little diary Review by Noni
This year (2016) I used the black version of this diary, and found the paper to be luxurious and the layout fantastic. This 2017 design is even better in some ways.
The plastic cover now has a matte finish, which is much, much nicer to use than the patent cover on the black. I hope the whole range has been updated with this matte finish. It is so lovely to the touch, and doesn't pick up fingerprints and scratches like the high-gloss version.
The size of the diary is also a little more compact than the 2016 release. This is a great choice, as it is still big enough to write comfortably in without taking up too much space. This will now fit in some of my smaller carry bags, so I'll be able to use it a lot more. It isn't a mini diary by any means, but is the size of a slim paperback novel. I find really small diaries very uncomfortable to use, and am having no problems at all with this one!
Inside, the diary layout is quite different to the 2016 version. It is a different style of two-page weekly view. The 2016 version has all seven days laid out across each double-page spread. The 2017 version has the days running down the left-hand page and a notes page to the right.
At first I wasn't sure about the layout, as I like a lot of space per day to keep notes and stick in business cards etc. if necessary, but I think the notebook/diary combo will be very handy once I get used to it. At the moment I carry a separate notebook, but I can see this replacing the need for it.
In addition, in the 2016, each month begins with a calendar spread; in the 2017, all the calendar pages are collated at the front of the diary. This is a fantastic change! It is much easier to see at a glance what your commitments are, and fixes the problem of tricky events that might start on the 30th of October and not finish until the 3rd of November.
The pocket in the front is handy, and there are also sleeves at the back for slipping in thin documents. There are no stickers or pouches within the diary itself, but the storage space could be used to add your own style of stickers etc.
Overall I am thrilled with this one! A real improvement on the 2016 version, which I thought was pretty perfect as it is. (Posted on 12/10/2016)
