The Palomino KUM Long Point Pencil Sharpener is the perfect complement to your Blackwing. Designed specifically to sharpen a long point, it has a genius two-part design: the left blade sharpens the wood and the right blade crafts a fine lead point.
It comes with two replacement KUM blades (made in Germany) and has an automatic brake to prevent over sharpening. It suits all conventional lead pencils with barrel width under 8mm.
SUITS: Palomino Blackwing, Palomino Blackwing 602 and pencils less than 8mm diameter

- Best Pencil Sharpener I've Found Review by Philippa
- I am purchasing my 3rd or 4th Palomino KUM pencil sharpener today. Sour note first: When you use yours as often as I use mine - and carry it in pencil cases, make-up cases (in winter), and loose inside an art bag - the cover may eventually split from its self-formed hinge. I washi-tape a new 'hinge' (easily strong enough) until I decide to replace it. Otherwise it's full excitement in a pencil sharpener! I lend it often to others who appreciate it too. A few have decided to purchase their own. The few too lazy to use it properly - who repudiate the concept and don't care to smell life's roses - once frustrated me no end. I've since understood they aren't fit for its consumption, so I tell them it's called KUM, and feel grateful that I've seen them at their disappointing limits... I love a long-point pencil! It's so very Japanese! I am fastidious about emptying the thing. (Agree with Cameron - shavings sadly stack up fast. Employ a back-up receptacle, if you know what I mean.) I like its shape plenty but, as my Jewish father's daughter, it shall not bespeak a German tank to me! Never! Not ever! It's a '50s "MOTEL-VACANCY-COLOR TV-POOL" highway sign to me. I wish it was smaller, yet it's not too big. Yes, it's a riddle! Dare I hope to find a sharpener to better it? (Posted on 27/12/2015)
- A great partner for your Palomino Review by Cameron
A great partner for your Palomino, the use of two separate blades allows for sharpening to a long, fine-point. Accidentally prick your finger on a freshly sharpened lead and you'll definitely know about it!
The replacement blades are a neat idea which adds value and the long point it sharpens to allows me to write for longer before resharpening (I use a 602). I also quite like the quirky design - not sure about anyone else but it reminds me of an old German tank / landship.
A potential downside for some may be the small shavings catch, which will have you emptying it every one or two sharpenings. Slightly annoying, perhaps, but a relative non-issue at a desk with easy access to a bin or wastebasket. (Posted on 11/07/2015)
